The field trip includes visits to the following social enterprises:
Cometa
Cometa is a group of families committed to helping young minors in difficulty. Cometa is in the process of setting up a Social Enterprise. This is where in 2008 the Contrada degli artigiani, La Bottega Scuola (Artisan’s District, School Shop) was established. It’s a cooperative where master craftsmen and women pass on their know how to the younger generations to keep traditions alive. They’ve gained experience in time; the Oliver Twist School, which is part of the Cometa complex, opened to offer 4-year professional training courses (in Textiles, Wood and Catering) to students from 14 to 18 years of age. Today 250 operators and 200 voluntary workers are involved. We’ll visit the Contrada degli Artigiani, the Oliver Twist School and have lunch at the restaurant/school.

A Social Enterprise that manages a building which aims to be a symbol of communal life and solidarity between Italian and foreign families, between young and old.
We’ll visit two pilot social enterprises: SHARE, the very first social quality second-hand clothing shop, and BESO, the first point of sale for an innovative completely recyclable joint fair trade coffee capsule.

Farsi Prossimo Cooperative – M’ama Food Project
M’AMA FOOD world catering is an enterprise that promotes the social-economic integration of female refugees in Milan helping them develop their professional skills, focusing on their own interests and inclinations. M’ama Food offers training and employment programs.
We’ll have lunch at the Cordata Cooperative to get a taste of their original recipes from all over the world.

Alice Social Cooperative
The Alice Social Cooperative is based in the San Vittore Remand Center and creates job opportunities for people who’ve finished their dressmaking course. Articles are created in the laboratories for a variety of companies and clothing shops, and they also produce household linen and magistrates’ gowns. The cooperative set up Sartoria Sanvittore, a fashion brand that combines high quality and designer research with ethics and social promotion. We will visit the inmates working with the Cooperative.

Olinda
The Olinda social enterprise was established in 1996 with the aim of recovering the ex Paolo Pini Psychiatric Hospital in Milan. The following enterprises have set up shop there: Bar Ristorante Jodok, Olinda Catering, BistrŌlinda at the Elfo Puccini Theatre, OstellOlinda, Teatro LaCucina.
We’ll visit the enterprises and finish off the day with an aperitif.
